The normative changes of puberty have important effects on achievement, including a temporary drop in the motivation to achieve. The development of sophisticated ways of thinking (hypothetical and logical thinking) also affords individuals better ways of thinking about of achievement-related issues and enables them to study subjects that require more sophisticated cognitive abilities. Achievement motivation: extent to which an individual strives for success. Kids in a room, offering either a small reward immediately or waiting for a bigger reward.
