Gives birth to one of the central tenants of the american identity. Must live our lives as if we are living in a city upon a hill because god has chosen us. For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. Leaving what they believed to be a failed holy community to start their own. England had become too tolerate of too many religions.
