Describe the sensory distribution of the v1 & v2 branches. 3 parts to trigeminal n. : primarily a sensory nerve. Everything anterior to ear is innervated by cn v. V3 comes all the way up in front of the ear as well. V1 does forehead and anterior part of nose. V2 innervates cheek area (zygomatic), inferior margin or orbit, upper lip area. V1 supraorbital n. sensory above your orbit- forehead. V2 infraorbital n. sensory below orbit. V3 comes out through opening lateral to midline of mandible- mental n. Feel pain in forehead different nerve then in your mouth. Referred pain- pain is actually in your mouth. Brain cannot distinguish where pain is coming from due to common pathway. Coming out of foramen ovale and splitting into 4 sensory nerves: buccal: to cheek, lingual: to tongue, inferior alveolar: going to sockets of teeth of lower jaw.
