We are lookng at the lining of that sius, the enodthelial cell. When that sinus is facing the capsule its continuous. If you look at medullary sinuses, and trabecular sinuses the endothelial lining becomes discontinous. This is where the macrophages stick their pseudopods out and filter that lymph. Why do children with sickle cell anemia have an occurance where there spleen gets enlarged. Filters blood, gets rid of old rbcs, large artery! Artery, vein and efferent lymph vessel enter/leave through hilum. Blood supply; white big splenic artery that supplies the spleen. Has to do with the role of the spleen. Similar to lymph node, indented area on the left there is the hilum. Also similar to lymph nodes in that we have dict capsule as well as myofibroblasts!. The reason for this is that in some animals the spleen can contract. (so we have that myofibroblasts) ie dog, cats.
