Sept 20 development of the nervous system. Embryo begins as bilaminar disc then develops into trilaminar. Lateral fold happens three layers fold into midline. Somites fold inwards and begins to look like paper towel role cylindrical body tube. Not only are we having lateral folds, we have cranial and caudal folds. Tail fold in caudal region, head fold in cranial region happening when lateral folds happening. Somites basic body segments (first segments of body) Pic below = sagal = slice middle in longitudal drn see neural tube (dorsal) and nodal cord. Nodal cord formed by cells that invaginate at primitive node move interiorly and form nodo cord (form vertibrie column:??) Yolk sac for gut and hind gut (yellow ) coming from endo. For gut lining of mouth (opening of mouth and pharynx) As we move ventrally we notice notochord is located ventral/beneath it. Notochord makes signals that promote neural tube formation. When lateral folds come together have cylindrical body plan.
