This is the attachment site for the: hamstring muscles (semimembranosus, semitendinosus, biceps femoris), quadratus femoris muscle, inferior gemellus muscle, sacrotuberous ligament. Greater sciatic notch: lies between the ischial spine and the posterior inferior iliac spine. The sacrospinous and sacrotuberous ligaments attach at either end of the notch to form the greater sciatic foramen for the passage of the sciatic nerve as well as other nerves and vessels. Lesser sciatic notch: found at the edge of the ischium. It lies between the ischial spine and tuberosity.
