Document Summary

Ascites, accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity. What layers have become weakened: the linea alba. Linea alba are made up of the extension of the fascia of the internal, external muscle and the transverse abdominus. What is hydrocephalus: the accumulation of csf: due to too much csf production, improper drainage. Babies don"t have fused sutures between cranial bones: anterior fontanelle. The expanded csf would push the bones apart allowing expansion. Cavernous sinus lies lateral to the pituatary fossa part of the venous drainage of the meninges. Pituatary gland tumor can only grow laterally and may start compressing structures within the cavernous sinus. Would compress the cranial nerves and some may be impacted. Symptoms experienced may include: trouble with eye movements (oculomotor superior rectus, trochlear superior oblique and abducent-lateral rectus) In order to test the function of these would need the person to move their eyes in all sorts of different directions.
