So this may be the most imp muscle in the body trachea, lungs, and pleura (pleura being the pleural cavity, which is where the lungs are located in) This tube travels down into the thorax, and at that point it bifurcates into 2 primary bronchi (aka. Tertiary bronchi go to defined regions in the lung called bronchial pulmonary segments. At the point where the trachea ends and bifurcates, there"s a little ridge called the carina. Secondary bronchi are in purple; branches are the tertiary bronchi. Secondary bronchi are known as lobar bronchi because they are separated by lobes: 3 lobes in. Assoc"d with the superior lobe is the lingula, which is located at the bottom next to the cardiac.
