Anatomy and Cell Biology 3319 Lecture : Anatomy Notes
Document Summary
Muscles of the medial compartment of the thigh groin muscles: all adduct the thigh at the hip, as when riding a horse. When walking, there is subtle adductor movement of the thigh. Superficial group pectineus, adductor longus (both also flex the thigh at the hip), and gracilis (also crosses knee joint to flex the leg). Deep group adductor brevis (flexes thigh) and adductor magnus (extends thigh). Adductor longus (superficial): the most anterior of the adductor muscles. The obturator nerve passes through the obturator foramen in the pelvis. I along the lesser trochanter to the linea aspera on the posterior femur. Action adducts, flexes, and medially rotates the thigh. Innervation: femoral nerve and sometimes the obturator nerve. Gracilis (superficial): is a long and thin muscle. O inferior ramus and body of pubis and ischial ramus. Action adducts thigh, flexes and medially rotates leg, especially during walking. Adductor brevis (deep): concealed by the adductor longus and pectineus.
