Whereby a man asserts his right to intrude on the woman"s attention, defining her a sexual object, and forcing her to interact with him . Public sphere is where men can move around freely, yet women are subject to sexual harassment if they enter the public sphere. Women walked the street for 10 hours and recorded the harassment that they experienced. Women"s exclusion from public areas, and especially from streets, is encoded in normative standards of safety". For their own good, women should stay out of these situations. Or, the responsibility to engage and change is placed on women rather than on men. Women should not respond to the harassment (do not engage) Men"s harassment is a lost cause so it is women"s job to reduce it. Avoidance and harassment deterrents like friends, husbands, babies, or mode of dress.
