Alpha-2 macroglobulin: protease inhibitor, mw = 720 kda (very large much larger than albumin) Ceruloplasmin: copper-carrying protein, serum concentrations is reduced in wilson"s disease, decreased incorporation of copper into ceruloplasmin, decreased biliary excretion of copper, copper deposits in the liver, brain and other organs, a test used to screen for wilson"s disease. C3 complement: now in beta 2, major component of the complement system, part of the immune system, decrease in, complement deficiency, body cant produce sufficient c3. In response to ongoing diseases such as lupus, glomerulonephritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and bacterial sepsis: c3 is consumed by these proteins (?) C-reactive protein (crp: have a general function in defence against bacteria and foreign substances. In healthy people, crp is not detected by electrophoresis due to its low level. Increased significantly in acute phase response such as trauma, acute and chronic infection and inflammation.
