Document Summary
Actin filaments = microfilaments: microfilament makes microtubule. Actin is corticol: cortical means the cortex (near the outside, actin is found underneath the plasma membrane, also found deep in the cytoplasm. Involved in cell shape and cell movement because it is in contact with the pm: the actin network forms different structure that facilitate this movement, even muscle cell movement requires actin + myosin. Actin is found near cortex in pm: direct recipient of cell signaling molecules, cells communicating and need to respond to something relates to cell shape and movement. Actin responds to extracellular signals (more dynamically than mt: a lot of receptors on pm that are going to change the cytoskeleton, dramatically affect the actin cytoskeleton, the actin cytoskeleton changes dramatically to extra cellular signals. Actin can form networks and bundles: different shapes and structures within the cell. Adherens belt allow cells to contract surface. Filopodia and lamellipodium have to do with actin polymerization.
