Small teeth, not meant to be a carnivore. Over half of the organisms on earth are predators, herbivores, or parasites that sustain themselves by feeding on other organism. Herbivory- predator is an animal, prey are plants or algae. Parasitism- predator (a parasite) lives symbiotically or in the prey (its host) and consumes certain tissues; may not kill the host. Not all organism fit neatly into these categories. Some carnivores such as wolves also eat berries, nuts and leaves. Parasitoids are insects that kay eggs on or in another insect host. After hatching, larvae remain in host, which they eat and usually kill. Concept 12. 1 most carnivores have broad diets, whereas a majority of herbivores have relatively narrow diets.
