Document Summary

Habitat alteration: basically every human activity alters the habitat of organisms. Invasive species: the introduction of non-native species to new environments, where some may become invasive, has pushed native species towards extinction. For most species, a high intensity of hunting or harvesting by humans will not in itself pose a threat of extinction, but for some species it can: example; polar bear. Study genetic attributes of organism, to infer the status of their populations: they ask how small can a population become and how much genetic variation it can lose before running into problems such as inbreeding depression. Invasive species: habitat alteration or loss, pollution, overharvesting, global climate change is increasing in importance, all of these are intensified by human population growth and by our increase in per capita consumption of resources. Habitat alterations is the main cause of biodiversity loss today. Different drivers of biodiversity loss can act simultaneously, and interact with each other.
