Family suggests other properties that we didn"t think would be there if they were strangers: e. g. Systems are networks of relations: system = a network of relationships among parts, elements or components that interact with and influence one another. Systems have: exchange of energy, matter, or information. Key traits of (some) systems: emergent properties, feedback loops, homeostasis, resistance, resilience, not all of these systems have these properties with the exception of emergent properties. Important properties because it helps for understanding how human interact with the environment. Emergent properties = characteristics of the system that are not evident in the components alone: another way of saying the whole is more than the sum of the parts , change in perspective by saying they are a family . Certain things with how we associate family that is more than the individual parts.
