Lecture 6 ion and water balance 4: dehydration tolerance. As desiccation tolerance increases we get an increasing number of species. Maintaining water balance is the key adaptation in terrestrial animals (we are wet on the inside, dry on the outside) Scorpions and some mites are extremely dehydration tolerant.
