Not all individuals within a species have identical genomes. Generally just consider each other to be variations with different. Mutations are typically more restricted to when we talk about disease phenotype or things like that. It seems that ethnic background variations doesn"t cause more variation. Everyone has basically the same number of variation amongst genomes. Only approximately 2% of the nucleotides in this region are part of coding sequence. Over 100,000 deletions and insertions ranging from 2 to 37,896 bp.
