Document Summary
Lecture 17: sexual selecion coninued; cooperaion and conlict. Sexual selecion & parental care; cooperaion and conlict. Males have a much higher potenial itness. Females are more choosy because they cannot increase their ofsprings as easily. First reason why females are oten limited to the quanity of ofspring they can produce. Eggs are energeically more expensive as opposed to sperm cells which is cheap. Sex diferences in parental investment and potenial itness determine which sex is choosy, and which sex competes. Whichever sex invests less (most of the ime males) is going to be compeing for access to the opposite sex. Conversely the high invesing sex is going to be more choosy. Direct beneits: males that are more atracive are good to mate with because they ofer direct beneits, atracive males are good dads. Nupial gits, access to territory, parental care.
