The science of biology has progressed from observation and description, to generation of hypothesis about diversity and related predictions about how life has diversified and continues to diversify on earth. Plants have evolved to use animals to gain access to nitrogen by trapping and digesting animals. Darwin studied carnivorous plants and noted that there were at least 20 genera in 10 families, there are also both terrestrial and aquatic ones. Bucket traps down in pool of water in a modified leaf. Growing on top of termite nests (its food source) Waterwheel plant (relative of venus fly) grows globally while venus fly only found in north and south carolina. Australian sheep bowflies lay eggs in open wounds on livestock. Maggots eat flesh and damage wool on animals. Organophosphate pesticides are used because the affect the nervous system and quickly kill the insects. Some flies have mutated and become resistant to the pesticide.
