This term and photosynthesis are used interchangeably. Co2 is very stable, no calories in co2. Thylakoid membrane = where photosynthetic electron transport takes place; the only green part of chloroplasts. Lumen is entirely surrounded by the thylakoid membrane. The enzymes that make up calvin cycle are found in the stroma, they"re oating around in the stroma. Calvin cycle = light independent reaction that, the actual part of photosynthesis that reduces co2 to carbohydrate. Mitochondrial chloroplasts have their own genomes, they code for proteins that are required for those organelles to work. They don"t encode for all proteins that the organelles need, but they code for all the fundamental ones that allow operation. It"s got everything we need, including transcription & translation. There is a gene on chloroplast called. D1, this cods for protein that is required for photon electron transport. This is the thylakoid membrane, there are 4 gigantic protein complexes. Photosystem i and ii, cytochrome complex, and atp synthase.
