Almost everything that is living relies on photosynthesis. 100 gt of co2 gets converted to sugar every year. Half of this is occurring in the ocean, half on land. Photosynthesis is endergonic, energy is spread out and all condensed now into one. The light dependent reduction of co2 into sugar. Water is being oxidized, and co2 is being reduced. If it has dna, to use that dna is must have a compelte transcriptional and transaltional machinery, ribosomes, which it does. A protein encoded for by the chloroplast genome is called d1** The light harvesting part of photosynthesis is found only in psii and psi. We want to make nadph and atp, because i need these to reduce co2 to sugar. Both of these are needed for the calvin cycle, to fix co2. P680 is in psii, and p700 is in psi. Nadph and atp are the products of the light reactions.
