Document Summary

Fenestrated: have tight juncs between cells, but through the cells there are large channels that will allow water and some small water-soluble molecs to pass through. We find these capillaries in the glomerulus in the kidney; there are blood vessels that are surrounded by the bowman"s capsule of the nephron and there are a lot of holes within these blood vessel cells. Water and small molecs such as glucose and urea leave the blood and go out into the nephron. Sinusoidal capillaries: very few tight juncs between cells so lots of room between cells; also have fenestrations so mostly paracellular transport between cells. Open circ systems have sinuses, and closed systems mostly have things that stay within the tubes. In vertebrates that have sinusoidal capillaries, some of the fluid will get out of it; we find these capillaries in sinuses.
