In the duration of the laboratory period, the synthesis of a molecule often used in the food and flavours industry was done through a common alcohol reaction. Through ir and nmr, the structure of the molecule will be identified. In the industry, the fabrication of consumer products is normally obtained from organoleptic substances. These substances carry properties that can be sensed, such as odour, colour, taste, or feel. In the food industry, organoleptic substances help in improving odours and flavours of different materials, which makes them more presentable and attractive to consumers. For the duration of the experiment, the group synthesized a molecule containing high organoleptic properties. The procedure has been carried out through an equilibrium reaction which involves a carboxylic acid and an alcohol. In order to obtain a complete reaction, an excess in reactants was needed due to it being an equilibrium reaction.
