Late helladic iiic (lh iiic: 1200 1075 bce. Early geometric: 900 850 bce. Middle geometric: 850 750 bce. After the bronze age: late helladic iiic period. After around 1200 the mycenaean palacs changed dramatically: some were abandoned while others were continuously occupied. Other sites were newly created: lefkandi, perati. Sites tend to be structured by neighbourhoods with some houses standing out as larger or richer than others: some with imports. Linear b disappears along with monumental stone architecture, wall paintings and most high end craft specialization. Lh iic ends around 1000 bce with another wave of destruction. Used to be called the dark age because scholars thought everyone reverted back to living in huts, no agriculture, no trade, diminished population. On the other hand certain things did change: new regions became popular to live in, houses became predominantly apsidal in plan and new burial customs like cremation became popular.
