Ancient peoples all agree that slavery is necessary. Modern day analogy: minimum wage dead end jobs are unfortunate for some people, but we need them, can"t get rid of them. Attitude is i"m going to be free one day and i"ll have my own slaves much like one day i will be in charge and people will be working those dead end jobs under me . Maybe 1 out of 3 people in society was a slave. If a family can"t afford at least one slave they are very poor (that"s all we know about the cost) Very rarely hear about a family with dozens and dozens of slaves (wealthiest might have 50, normal rich families would have about 10) Greek culture only exists because of the forced labour. Society is slave driven (ie. olympics required slave workers to make happen) Human beings were forced to run in a treadmill wheel to generate energy.
