Refers to a fancy house that the upper class would have: also known as the atrium house. The most dominant feature of the house was the atrium which was found in the centre. In the first hour of the day, the patron would attend to the clients that have lined up outside: he would then leave the house and not come back until the 7th or the 8th hour. Almost every evening was spent entertaining people or at someone"s house. Most shops would close at the 8th hour which would be around 4 pm. Would be on the low end for a domus but it still took up an entire block. Roman houses were known for having an open floorplan. They would like people to see right through their houses so others could see that they had means. There are not a lot of rooms and very little furniture.
