Rebirth of culture, of certain things that had gotten lost after the collapse of bronze age. Some markers: spatial distinction between houses, religious areas, and cemeteries. Religious areas suggest priestly class and somebody is in charge of this common ideology that people are trying to push in this community. Development of sanctuaries, like panhellenic sanctuaries: all of greece. Not just for one city but important to all of greece notion of greek identity vs just identity of city. What emerged in that period is the temple. Writing reappears, in the form of dedicatory inscriptions (dedications to deities like. Zeus), and in the form of homeric stories becoming part of the greek identity as everyone is telling these stories and then at some point is written down. A little glimpse of that is seen in pottery and in various forms, or just references to it. References to stories we saw in lefkandi (like the centaur story)
