This came after the year 1000, when people though that the world would end, after it didn"t, many churches were built soon after. In the 1140s, man makes changes in his churches, switches up architecture. In gothic architecture, things just keep getting added on. Different styles added on to the same building over the centuries. Merchant class is created in the cities, they are not supposed to build a fortune, so they donate generous amounts to the church.
