They wanted to create something concrete and solid; not supericial, leeing and subjecive: wanted a scieniic art, juxtaposiion would be based on the theories of colour. Group together a whole range of painters, who come ater the impressionists. Post-impressionists came in the late 1880"s 18890"s turn of the century. Moving towards abstract art, but not enirely.
