Cs 101: part one the fairy tale. Repurposing technology: everything we used now is based and built on something that came before. Once upon a time, there were not computers - not actually true! There were no electronic calculators, but there were computers: there was always a need to calculate (we were the computers!) Navigational tables for mariners (tides) knowing and understanding the tides in order to safely get a boat in and out of the sea. Civil engineering tables charging based on age, gender. The more knowledge we had, the more we needed to calculate. Better and better methods were always employed for calculations the more complex the calculations, we would always look for an easier way to calculate it making it easier and more accurate. What tools can we create and invent to make it easier starting with: logarithmic tables, trigonometrical tables. Napier bones (1617): coming up with a quotient of any multiplier.
