All of the poems of this era and group were looking at the paradoxes of modern life. Imagism addressed little thing as mattering much more than people thought. Then the wasteland said that nothing matters. A feeling of inadequacy when looking at the michelangelo repetition. The (cid:494)why? (cid:495) question here connects to character. The epigraph speaks about a kind of (cid:494)void(cid:495) or concealed area. It is excluding on purpose, written in italian even though it really didn(cid:495)t need to be. He(cid:495)s selectively addressing an audience that knows dante. Commenting on the fact that we don(cid:495)t have a common language anymore. The fact that we can(cid:495)t all speak in italian. Taking the important things that people have said before him and revisiting them in his works.
