Fugitive pieces: fugitive pieces is a king of memory book which teaches us how we must approach the past, key word: piety (latin: pietas) To think of the past as a sacred trust, something that has to be cared for, cared about, and carried into the future. Fugitive pieces is saturated with the ethics of memory, and the difficulty of memory. Places us in the realm of epistemology: the study of ways and means of knowing and understanding. Maybe fugitive pieces can be regarded like an encyclopedia of memory. Jakob meditates about stone: page 76: try to be buried in ground that remembers you. Metaphorical because ground does not remember people but ground will remember people if there is someone there or there is a marker. Maybe there will not be a stone but that person will still be remembered: the body is buried under these stones and hidden, but not forgotten, remembered in another way.
