Odysseus often has self serving motives, but is his most human/admiral when he takes blame, and solicits sympathy. Odysseus is a good storyteller - able to earn trust/presents from his audiences (manipulative) P205 - 291-295 - athena calls odysseus a liar - says that it is easy to see that he is lying just because his lips are moving. Odysseus is hiding his identity from athena - strategy in finding out information.
