Apollo 15 moon landing was the landing that had trouble because there was a lot of dust blowing in the air upon descent. They went to a site with smooth plains and a lava flow as well as going to the foot of a mountain. They wanted to sample more than one thing during the trip. There were only 6 apollo landings but between them they gave us a good idea of what the moon was like, its geological history, materials, etc. Hardly anything on the moon ever changes, unlike on the earth. The moon landings show us what the early history of the solar system and our earth were like. The first link and his notes say why they went to that site.
