How Climate Works - Energy transfer mechanisms o Radiation – light and heat being transferred from each human being, the sun o Sensible heat -warmth of air and water o Latent heat – water vapour - Global radiation balance: absorbed light = emitted infrared radiation o Problem: Get more sunlight at the equator and we have to move it towards the poles - Global Ocean circulation – drive by one location (north Atlantic) o North Atlantic Deep Water Formation – because the water freezes  It has so much salt in the water that it sinks to the bottom when it freezes 2. Feedback - Response Feedback: the effect of the outcome of an action on the rate of the action - + the outcome of an action accelerates
