Regional specialization: as the transport system evolves it affects the specialization in a regional economy. For it to occur transport cost myst be less than or equal to the production cost differential. Transport can be as much at 10% of the price. Rank in ton a mile costs least to most (time not included) High value of item the more transport cost it can bear. Lower volume between two ports, higher the ransport cost. Cheaper to carry full load than partial load. Increase in dimensions by two, increase surface area by 4 and volume by 8. The more regular the demand the lower the transport costs. Higher leven of competition, lower the transport cost.
