Almost 6 million expatriates return japan by 1947, 1947: average family spends 70% of its income for food. Average caloric intake: 1200 calories (1/2 of what was considered sufficient) 1947: infant mortality: 77 deaths per 1000 births. War trials considered only japanese acts, not acts committed by allies. About 10 times as many japanese executed as germans on conventional war crime charges. However, japanese more or less accepted the tribunal"s verdict. Not in military uniform but look like an ordinary civilian.
