It is within these theories that paranoia comes in very strong. The fear that people around you have a secret plan to destroy you and take over your way of life. They begin in/ derive from the age of enlightenment which occurs roughly in the 1600. Occurred in opposition to the old hierarchies of tech and state which had been running life in the western world for as long as anyone could remember, such hierarchies were accepted blindly. The coming thought was that maybe humans should use their ability to question, the notion of the age encouraged people to be skeptical and think rationally/ logically aside from what the church and state tell everyone. This way of thinking put humans at the centre of the universe, not god. God"s not a micro-manager , all the petty world events are the problem of humans that are too meagre for god to deal with. This brings a new wrinkle to panic.
