Black death movie: connection between the plague, religion and superstition, old world disease panics. Spawn irrational behaviours that are held to provide some kind of protection. Against disease: the history of epidemic disease. Small pox: entered human population from rats as far as 10,000 years ago. Looks like sushi: horrific consequences on human body, killed but disfigured while killing, or contact with bodily fluids. Symptoms: fever, fatigue, vomiting, mouth sores, rash, lesions, swollen face, pustules break and start oozing puss, scabs form over: 1980 declared done. In 200 years the disease kind of falls out because there"s not enough people to pass the disease: epidemic disease goes away for a few hundred years. Struck in 1665, city of london england: 1/4 population died, pandemic in 1860, hong kong. Cholera: comes from asia, water born disease, can live in a well for up to a month, and on clothing, furniture, bank notes. Ingesting contaminated food or water (poo in water)
