Willian seabrook the magic island (1929: publish as travel book of his time in haiti, spoke about see zombies (passed it off as reality) White zombie first zombie movie: couple visits haiti, stumble on plantation where women got transformed into zombie to make her marry him. Zombies encompass all our fears: they"re not rational (can"t reason with them, unpredictable, don"t understand them, really fast or slow, they"re ugly. *zombie is a metaphor for other things that caused mass panic (share same characteristic)
