No exodus this time, some people left but not many. Always seemed to be around in big cities (endemic) Wasn"t just caused by bacteria, but the toxin that was in it. Only kids get it, so why panic? (thought of adults) Deadly to young children aged 2-14, mainly 1-5. Begin to get a sense that medical break throughs become symbolic for the country. The scientist don"t care as much about the competition, it is the gov"t that do. Gov"t are now spending more money on this. School and preschool have different atmospheres for the disease. Person isn"t affected but others can still be infected. Can live in inanimate objects (door handles, tabletops etc) Their is antibodies formed to fight virus second time. Children dying in the first year was not a panic more a fact of life, but with disease it became more of a big deal. Problem is watching child die of this disease.
