- Does not invent the car but perfects the industrialization of the car, makes the car a
consumer item rather than a luxury item
- Within 10 years, car costs decreased 66%, assembled on a factory line
- Ford company created monthly payments – could buy on credit
- Spin off effects
o Highways
o Gas stations – motels – camp grounds
o Legal issues – fines & parking meters – accidents
o Products – paints – glass – leather
o Culture – sex, booze, and gangsters on wheels (get away car) – youth culture
