Not between life and death but rather a choice of how to die. Wanting people to stand up is not an accurate historical account of what was going on. The nazi"s always made it seem like there was hope for survival. Perpetrators and victims do not all act the same they are individual human beings. Different than resistance which is aligned with violent symbolism. Maintaining religious customs in the face of discrimination.
