People who do not breastfeed often feed their children with some form of baby formula. With formula feeding, parents must be very careful about how it is prepared, which can make it challenging for people to maintain. With formula, you must be aware of the possibility of formula being contaminated in the factory. Bottles must be sterile (i. e. babies are more susceptible to infections) Cases in china, taiwan, singapore, and vietnam where a chemically induced change was added to the formula at the factory level. Because it is produced externally, you cannot control every aspect of the formula. They were trying to disguise low protein content and were trying to supplement by adding other things to the formula. In the 1970s there was a push by baby formula companies to promote their products in new markets; countries in the global south such as parts of asia and africa.
