Reflect on what race means: without reflection, we run the risk of naturalizing things that are actually social in origin. History of social exclusion/violence/manipulation vs biologically originating genetic traits/characteristics. Used to distinguish between diff groups on basis of physical characteristics. And enduring social category that captures differential access to power and resources in society. Distinct from ethnic group: race is a social construct, ethnicity refers to shared cultural context. There is no one genetic marker or trait that codes for an entire race.
