We know that we have to exercise, but we still don"t. We are particularly at an advantage because we have an interest in health, and we have a lot of education. Most cited situational factors (for cessation of exercise): Time: according to the acsm: to prevent illness, there is diet and exercise. Diet is the most correlated with future illness. Number 2 is exercise: workouts should be 20-60 minutes. Strong evidence linking 60+ minute workouts without dropout (the longer the workout, the more you are likely to quit) If your attendance diminishes during midterms, it is harder to maintain a pattern: 2 approaches to timing workouts. Float them book them in where they fit (so a daily time) Both these methods treat exercise like a priority. Money: commercial gym memberships in london range from 400+ a year. Ties in with the position of the ideal workout. Some people live in places where it is not safe to run outside.
