People primarily talk about food and exercise when looking at health. Equally as important is sleep, but people don"t normally bring that up as a component of health. People that don"t sleep as much have a poor diet, overuse caffeine, don"t have the energy to exercise. It can also be a symptom of poor health (ex. Most adults need 7 1/2 to 8 hours to function well. Throughout the years, a higher percentage of people sleep less. 5 stages of sleep during a normal night. Stage 1-4 or non-rem and rem (rapid eye movement) During non-rem sleep, many of the restorative functions of sleep occur. During rem sleep, memories, and thoughts from the day are processed. One complete cycle takes about 90-110 minutes. First cycles have relatively short rem sleeps.
