Document Summary
Why do we need health promotion in canada on the health promotion scale we are not doing very well. We could be doing a lot more to improve our health. We have an increasingly sedentary lifestyle with poor food habits, over the past 30 years we have dramatically increased what we are consuming in terms of junk food. In the provinces less than half people get moderate exercise, women get less physical activity across the lifespan. 60% of all deaths are caused by chronic disease. Main diseases are cancer, heart disease, stroke, copd, diabetes. Diet, physical activity level, and tabaco use can prevent as much as 80% of chronic disease. Health promotion can help to address these things.
