Document Summary

Lecture 1 critical thinking as moral thinking: methods and concepts. Critical thinking: sometimes referred to as higher order thinking (hot, a capacity to work with complex ideas whereby a person can make effective provision (e. g. bloom"s taxonomy, de bono"s thinking hats) of evidence to justify a reasonable judgment . Having a good argument for why they feel that way vs. having no argument. Ethical is having a reason since there is justification given. Nonethical is saying this isn"t even an argument at all; it is a statement with no justification, just personal feeling (moon 2005). It involves the ability to: distinguish between reliable and unreliable information, be objective. One approach in finding an answer but it doesn"t necessarily give the truth. Human relationships are really complicated and you can never know 100% of what is going on. Physicians are discouraged/not allowed to treat their own family members: presupposition affects objectivity.
