The partnership changed overtime as the europeans realized how much power they could acquire by having control over the land. Treaties (legal agreements) were designed and signed between the aboriginals and europeans. Indigenous peoples thought they were entering into an equitable treaty regarding land. Interest grew in bringing more settlers to canada, and indigenous peoples were seen as an impediment and were seen as holding canada back from becoming more modern.
